Prescription Changes

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

(Effective from Monday 2nd February 2015)

As you are aware the health service is suffering resource issues, both financial and capacity. In an effort to try and ensure patients receive the clinical care they need, we, as have many other surgeries in the area, decided we will no longer be prescribing medication that is available to buy over the counter or as part of the Minor Ailments scheme.

This includes medications such as:

Pain Relief (Adult & Children)

Cough Bottles

Nappy Cream

Teething Gel

Antihistamines

Medication for Vomiting & Diarrhoea

Scaly Scalp & Anti-Dandruff Shampoo

(THIS LIST IS NOT EXCLUSIVE)

If you contact the surgery to order such medications the reception staff will inform you that these are no longer available on prescription.

On occasions it may be that, only after the doctor has checked your request, you will be informed that it has been denied. In any case we will inform you.
